Overview

Europe Express

Highlights include the vineyards of the Champagne region spread out as you travel along country roads. On the way to Moet & Chandon we suggest you visit a family owned champagne house such as Roger Constant Lemaire, Ployez Jacquemart or Tribaut where the wine makers will share their family story and their passion for what they do. Once at Moet & Chandon an expert will explain the process of making champagne from picking grapes to bottling. You will have an opportunity to participate in a champagne tasting (not included). Next, there will be time for lunch (not included) in a typical restaurant. Your guide can offer suggestions based upon your tastes.

After lunch, we will continue on to Hautvillers, the home village of Dom Perignon, where we will stop to visit a local church. Afterwards, we will continue on to Reims where you have a choice of taking a guided tour of Notre Dame Cathedral or visiting another champagne house such as Pommery, Veuve Cliquot, Taittinger or Martel before returning to Paris.

This tour is provided on a reserved basis prior to departure. Passengers must contact the local sightseeing company upon arrival to reconfirm their tour.

Champagne & Brie Region

Champagne & Brie Region

While Brie, France is located in the north, the city of Champagne, France is located in the east. The two historic regions form northeastern France. The soft white cheese known as the Brie we know today originates from the region itself. In 1795, navigator Louis-Antoine de Bougainville also introduced rose culture to the region of Brie. On the other hand, Champagne was founded in 1065 and is best known from the sparkling white wine that bears its name. The region played an important role in the French economy attracting western societies to participate in the Champagne Fairs.

Visitors can stroll through the vineyards in Champagne, explore historical cathedrals or discover how the famous Brie cheese is made in Brie!

Paris, world capital of art and culture, gathers some of the most famous museums and monuments in the world. Like all the world's great capitals, Paris lives at a fast pace, by day, by night and especially at rush hours. Bear in mind that museums and monuments are often less crowded during the week. Sights that should not be missed include: The Louvre and the Musee d'Orsay. Visit any of the many others according to your tastes and interests: the Musee Picasso, Musee Rodin, Musee Carnavalet, Musee Marmottan and the Arab Institute are just a few. Essential Paris monuments are the Eiffel Tower, Notre-Dame cathedral, the Arc de Triomphe or the Grande Arche de la Defense.
